Thanks folks, I really appreciate the comments. I think all these re-runs have been edited quite heavily to fit a particular slot, so a few little bits and pieces have been omitted. I did call Lesley's bluff, but she was wrong!
As I mentioned in an earlier comment both series of Wilderness Walks went out as VHS videos with a company called Striding Edge but they won't be available as DVD's I'm afraid. However, I think you might be able to get VHS from Amazon.
Sadly I don't think there will be another series of Wilderness Walks but, you never know, we might get something else on the telly at some time in the future.

Cameron
I did not hear of the series first time around but have been watching the runs on UKTV and its about the best walking programme I've seen. Way better than the Wainwright focussed output or "Mountain". How come such great walks were cut to 30 minute programmes - seems to me an hour would have been easily justified.

Know of any more? DVD perhaps?

We so enjoyed your walks with Lesley in Kerry and David Craig's moving comments about the clearances in Scotland.

Mike and Diddy
p.s. did you call Lesley's bluff about preicting your birth sign? !!

Thanks Tony. I know Striding Edge were selling both series of Wilderness Walks on VHS but it could be they've sold out. I reckon you'd probably get a video of both series via Amazon. Unfortunately the BBC wanted an arm and a leg to licence the series for DVD production so it's unlikely we'll be able to watch them on disc.

I am rewatching the Wilderness Walks series again this week with great enjoyment. Can the 2 original series be available on DVD please? Striding Edge is not selling them on VHS or DVD.
Being south of the border I have not seen the BBC Scotland series. Perhaps I can catch it on Sky or look forward to the DVD
Cameron, thanks for all the pleasure you have given with these programmes.
I look forward to more magnificent scenery in the next ones!

Thank you for your very kind words Stan. We are looking to do something new at the moment and with a bit of luck we'll get something off the ground later this year. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying doing my little Wild Walks slot on BBC Scotland's Adventure Show and I'm having a lot of fun putting together some little hill videos on TGO Magazine's website.
Finally, sorry I've not put up many podcasts recently. Been too busy with my video camera but I have several podcasts planned for the near future.
Best wishes for 2008!

I know you are a busy man but I think we are long overdue a new series!
I loved the first 2 series, they rank as possibly the greatest wilderness related TV of all time.

Who can forget Lord John and his missing underpants! Also Chris Brasher for his views on Scottish estate ownership not to mention his comparisons of the Cairngorms with the female anatomy! Along with Paul VanVlissingen, men of passion and reason - much missed.

If in an ideal world, there was a new series, YOU would of course have to present it! No Julia Bradbury or Griff thanks. No offence to them, but they just don't have the voice of the wilderness like yourself or Eric Robson.

Next question, what walks to feature? All very self indulgent I know but bear with me.

Keep the bedrock of the Scottish walks, maybe 3 of them, but also have 3 abroad - similar format to first 2 series. I suggest Sierra Nevada or Alaska, Little Bainti Peak (gives you an excuse to go back!) and maybe a walk in New Zealand - an area largely ignored by UK television but one of the finest wilderness landscapes in the world and worthy of inclusion. Look up Shaun Barnett guides if haven't already (the Cameron McNeish of the south!).

Even if we don't get a new Wilderness Walks series, I still keenly anticipate your output for 2008. Good luck in your travels and hope to see you on telly soon! And more podcasts please!

Best wishes
