No more news on Lister's plans, I'm afraid. Essentially there isn't very much that can be done until he actually applies for planning permission for the infamous electric fence. That's when all hell will break loose!

The BBC are broadcasting a 6-part series about animal reintroductions later in the summer, in which Lister plays a major role.

Was last in Glen Etive in April 1994. I remember climbing Beinn Trilleachan on a glorious evening, with a brilliant view down Loch Etive to a snow-clad Ben Cruachan and across to Ben Starav. Was in the Highlands again last weekend looking across to Trilleachan from Beinn a Chochuill reminiscing about that day when I noticed a haze across the Black Mount which seemed to be coming from what I thought was peat burning on Rannoch Moor. Certainly it seemed to be obscuring the view in that area. After driving through Glencoe later there were fire engines etc so maybe it had gotten out of control!
Anyway, on a separate subject, I watched the Natural World programme on BBC2 last week and was shocked at what is going in in Alladale. If Paul Lister manages to purchase adjacent estates or persuade their current owners to join his scheme, and then ring-fence the whole job-lot off, it would be disastrous. Is there any more news on this or somewhere I can get more information? At least the Lewis windfarm was cancelled, so that's something!

Glen Etive is great but is really let down by the proliferation of roadside campers (with associated debris) and the state of the mountain paths.

Properly managed this Glen could be a gem and become a thriving community again.
