When he realised he was lost he stayed put, indeed he apparently stayed put for 6 nights. Fortunately he had plenty food with him and he camped next to a creek for water. He had an iPhone with him but the batteries went flat. After 6 night he lit a signal fire, which got a little out of ctontrol it seems. Anyway, the fire service saw the smoke and came to the rescue. They found Ken to be in good spirits. It's difficult to be objective when you hear 'the facts' third hand, but it would appear that Ken did pretty good.
